Hi I am Clifford Martin and these are my photos.

Photography is one of my many activities, which also include computers, model railroading, and woodworking. What you see here are small portion of the photos that I have taken.

One of the things that 'challenges' me when it comes to photography is shooting pictures of planes at air shows. There is something about getting the perfect photo of two jets crossing while they are traveling hundreds of miles per hour, that gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Sky Soldiers - July 25, 2009 : I was invited by the Army Aviation Heritage Foundation, Sky Soldiers to attend and photograph their monthly meeting and practice session on July 25, 2009. The team reheased two of their air show programs, the Rescue At Dawn and the Cobra Demo Team. Team members also posed for team photographs and opened up all aspects of their hanger operations to my camera. The members of this organization are terrific and they fly several unique aircraft. They have the only remaining flyable AH-1G model Cobra and the only OV-1B model Mowhawk still flying. I enjoyed my day that I spent with the Sky Soldiers and I will be posting photos from that special day in this gallery. I took almost 2700 photos and it will take some time to process the best ones and post them here. Check back often for new photos as I add them.

Tyndall AFB - Blue Angels Crossing Shots : These are crossing shots of the Blue Angels taken on Saturday March 28, 2009 and Sunday March 29, 2009 at the Gulf Coast Salute Air Show at Tyndall AFB in Florida. It rained hard on Saturday and the skies were dark grey and overcast. Sunday was bright and sunny, without a cloud in the sky.

B-17 Liberty Belle at PDK Airport Feb. 14 & 15, 2009 : The B-17 named Liberty Belle was visiting the suburban Atlanta PDK airport over the weekend to raise money for the Liberty Belle Foundation and Angel Flight Atlanta. I used the event to go out an practice my photography with this plane and others as test subjects. It was also a good excuse to go out and test my brand new Nikon 200-400mm VR f/4 lens. The B-17 Liberty Belle was giving donors 30 minute airplane rides over Atlanta on Sunday. This meant about every 45-60 minutes the plane would either takeoff or land. The repeated takeoffs and landings allowed me to try different settings on my camera and try to dial in the best setting for the best pictures. Also giving rides and doing multiple takeoffs and landings, was the P-51 Mustang named Red Nose and a local Bi-plane. This gallery contains photos taken at various settings, so there may be repeat images that look the same, but there are slight differences depending upon camera settings.

VFA-106 - Gladiators - 30th Anniv. F/A-18C Hornet : These are aerial photos, taken by Lt. Steven "Vito" Vitrella, of the Navy VFA-106 Gladiators squadron. The plane is the special F/A-18C 30th Anniversary Hornet used by the Tactical Demo Team for air show demonstrations. The plane is being piloted by Lt. Joe "Sharky" Capalbo on the trip back to NAS Oceana from the Robins AFB Air Show. The photos were taken using a Canon Powershot SD1000 on May 5, 2009.

Quebec Air Show, June 13-15 2008 : The 2008 Quebec Air Show was held in celebration of Quebec's 400th Anniversary. This was a very special air show, bringing together for the first time, four national jet teams to perform, as well as several other outstanding air show acts. The host jet team was the Canadian Air Force Snowbirds. Also there was the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds, U.S. Navy Blue Angels, and the British Royal Air Force Red Arrows.

VMFA-142 Flying Gator's Last Flight, 5/31/2008 : I was told that 5/31/08 was the final day that VMFA-142 would be flying. VMFA-142 was moving to Cadre status at a ceremony to be held late on Saturday, May 31, 2008. The last three planes to fly took off from NAS Atlanta/Dobbins ARB field at a little after 3 p.m. in the afternoon. They flew for about an hour, out of my camera range, and then came back and landed. The planes were piloted by the current CO and two prior COs of the Flying Gators. This photo gallery contains photos of the ceremonial last flight on 5/31/08. I also contains photos taken on 6/17/08 of the last maintenance flight of plane 200 in the Flying Gator's paint and logos, as well as some photos of the CO and other officers of VMFA-142. VMFA-142 will be missed from NAS Atlanta and the entire Metro Atlanta area.

Great Tennessee Air Show, April 11&12, 2008 : This was my first air show of the 2008 season and it was held in Smyrna, Tenn. I was able to attend the Blue Angels practice show on Friday and the public show on Saturday. The weather was horrible but the show was great.
